Skyebat = MUSIC & FILM ... HD & Animation
!!!!
Stephanie Batailler was born in the French Alps near
Switzerland (have you every heard of Yodeling?),
she graduated with honor with a Master in History at the Sorbonne
in Paris then got a Certificate in Film production
at the New
School University in New York and received the New School Award
for Excellence in Experimental film
with her student film Between 2 Worlds in 2003. The
film also got a Nomination for the Female Director Award at
Global Fest in San Bernardino, CA and has been shown in festivals
in the US, Canada & Argentina. Stephanie was already very
particular for her music choice and asked Peter
Calandra to compose the orignal score for the film which brought the
film
Between
2 Worlds to be selected for the CMJ Music/Film Festival
in October 2002 in NYC. See the trailer on youtube.
But it was not untill 2008 and with another film Trip
to the Planetarium that Stephanie got more involved with the music.
Once more Peter Calandra wrote the score. For a
dancing scene in the streets of New York Stephanie wrote a Rap
song
and recorded the Rapper Beneficent
Robinson with Kennan Keating. And for an animated
scene set on the moon
Stephanie asked Peter for a Bossa Nova music
then decided it needed lyrics and recorded herself for Step
on the Moon.

The film got the Bronze 2008 Telly Award for use of Animation
and the Silver Lei Award for Excellence in Filmmaking
at the 2009 Honolulu International Film Festival. It was screened
in 2008 at the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival,
at Greening the Beige (Environmental Arts Festival) at the Beijing
Film Festival, at the Chinh India Kids Film Festival inNew Delhi
and at the Radar Hamburg International Independent Film Festival
in Germany. In 2009 is was selected at the Festival du Cinema
de Paris.
"Writing a novel, a script or
lyrics it's the same, it's about telling a story and communicating
emotion with the audience ....
adding to the fact that I strongly think that we encounter
more Alien behavior on Earth than in Space !" SB
After many requests from viewers and friends that
liked the songs in the film, Stephanie decided to give it a try
and created
SKYEBAT
She hooked up again with the music producer Kennan
Keating and in 4 months they wrote the
Album Year 2051
featuring the Rapper Beneficent Robinson on Catch
Up, Love
isn't complicated & One Day.

SKYEBAT combines POP/ROCK/R&B/RAP/LATIN
Why choosing
to write each songs combining English & French ?
|
| At the beginning I was torn between writing the songs
in English or French. I lived in NYC for the last 11 years,
so I speak & write English every day more than I speak
French now. However, depending on which kind of story comes
into my mind, my French comes back. So after a while struggling,
I realized that I didn’t have to choose one specific
language to write the lyrics, I just had to let the story
leading me. Eventually, words came out very quickly by
themselves |
